Where Are They Now: Esme Court-Johnston

Where Are They Now - Esme Court-Johnston

In 2017, Esme joined Queen Ethelburga’s for Sixth Form on a full academic scholarship, and from the moment she arrived, she embraced everything QE had to offer. Whether she was diving into her studies, building friendships, or leading on the court, Esme’s time at QE was nothing short of exceptional.

A passionate and dedicated athlete, Esme proudly represented QE in both basketball and netball, making it all the way to the national finals. Her energy and team spirit were unmatched, and those early successes were just the beginning of her incredible journey.

After leaving QE in 2019, Esme went on to study Dentistry at Newcastle University, graduating in July 2024. While balancing a demanding academic schedule, she continued her sporting pursuits and was a key player for Newcastle’s Women’s Basketball 1st team throughout her university years. Her commitment and leadership didn’t go unnoticed — she was named runner-up for the university’s most prestigious sporting excellence award, just behind the Women’s Hockey Club.

Following graduation, Esme completed her dental foundation training in the North East and is now preparing to begin her associate role in general practice this September. And as if that wasn’t impressive enough, she’s recently ticked off a major personal milestone — completing her very first marathon!

Reflecting on her journey, Esme shared:

“QE holds such a special place in my heart. Incredible teachers, lifelong friendships, and some of the happiest years of my life. I'm forever grateful!”

We’re so proud of everything Esme has achieved — and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her!
