Forces Families | Queen Ethelburga's | Boarding For Military Children

How does Queen Ethelburga's support Forces Families?

For over 100 years, Queen Ethelburga's has worked with the British Armed Forces. We welcome all children from an Armed Forces background in the UK to stay at QE as part of our boarding school.

We support families who are eligible for the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA).
Putting Children's Wellbeing First

The Wellbeing Team are here to support every student's mental health and resilience. The team includes a Forces Liaison Officer. The Liaison Officer runs a weekly Forces Club for younger children to meet each other. The team also helps students contact deployed parents who may be abroad. The Wellbeing Hub is always open to any student in need of emotional support or a chat over a hot chocolate.

Our Peer Mentor Scheme connects students with older students from a Forces background. Older students provide support and advice as someone who has had the same experience.

Why Choose QE For Your Child?

CEA Accredited

We offer a reduction in fees for children of serving members of the British Forces. Those eligible for Continuity of Education Allowance will pay £1,514 per term in 2025/2026.

Wondering how CEA works? Ask our Admissions Team - we're happy to help.

Supportive Boarding Environment

We provide a home from home for over 300 children whose parents travel or live abroad for work. Students enjoy a stable routine as part of boarding at Queen Ethelburga's. House Parents provide plenty of activities during the evening and weekend. They also help younger children communicate with their parents over the phone.

On weekends, children can visit their parents, relatives or friends (with parents' permission).
