Overview Of The Collegiate’s Four Schools

Chapter House (3 months to Year 5)

Children can join Chapter House at any point of the year during Kindergarten and Nursery. At the age of 4, children will move to Reception in September and new starters are expected to join the school at the beginning of the academic year.

In Year 5, students are prepared for transition into King’s Magna.

King’s Magna (Year 6 to Year 9)

Pupils attend King's Magna when they reach Year 6. Pupils are welcome to apply to join any of the King’s Magna year groups, with the expectation they join the school at the beginning of the academic year.

In Year 9, students are prepared for transition into the College or the Faculty. Queen Ethelburga’s offers a unique choice of two different senior school pathways for students in Years 10 to 12.

The Faculty (Year 10 to Year 13)

Students may join the Faculty at the beginning of Year 10 or Year 12. They follow a personalised pathway of academic, creative, or vocational courses designed to progress them towards higher education or employment.

If you are applying for Year 12, you must achieve a grade 6 or higher in the nearest equivalent subject at GCSE to study an A Level, or a grade 5 to study a BTEC.

The College (Year 10 to Year 13)

Students may join the College at the beginning of Year 10, Year 11, or Year 12. They follow a traditional academic route towards higher education, through GCSE and A Level courses.

To be offered a place at The College, you must have a score of 60 or above in the Mathematics, Non-Verbal and Spatial percentile sections of the CAT4.

If you are applying for Year 12, you must achieve a grade 7 or higher in the nearest equivalent subject at GCSE.
Or, if you are applying for the 1-year GCSE programme, you must achieve a grade 6 or higher in the nearest equivalent subject at GCSE.
