Boarding For Students In Key Stage Three
Give your child the full experience at Queen Ethelburga’s by choosing to board.
Most of our students join boarding at Key Stage Three and quickly fall in love with it, with the help of our specialist team who are expert at providing a fun and caring home from home.

Spend More Time With FriendsDon’t let the day end when the school bell rings. At Queen Ethelburga’s, there are so many social spaces for students to hang out with friends on the sports court, at the activity centre, a common room, or one of the playgrounds. Not forgetting, the huge selection of after-school activities that run every night at school.

Fresh And Modern Facilities
Students from Years 3 to 9 stay at Abbey, a modern and communal apartment building, with a playground and a Kitchen Garden in the courtyards. Each student has an ensuite room shared with two to three friends. The common rooms are kitted with air fryers, rice cookers, cookers and washing machines for students to learn to live independently – as well as enjoying three delicious cooked meals every day.
By far the best benefit of boarding is having access to all the school facilities outside of the normal school day. Students can access Muggles, QE’s activity centre and home to a cinema, climbing wall, game consoles and a fast-food café. Or take advantage of Queen Ethelburga’s fantastic sports facilities including a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, triple-court sports hall and vast acres of sports fields and courts.
Get To Know Yorkshire Better Than The Locals
The Boarding Team organise amazing trips to fun and exciting venues across the North of England during the weekend. There is shopping in Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle, or thrill-seeking action days at Ninja Warrior, Point Zero Trampoline Park or Flamingo Land Theme Park.
We may be in the countryside but there are so many fun activities only a bus drive away!
Be Independent In A Secure And Safe Campus
Every student at Queen Ethelburga’s boards on-site and Chapter House students are within a short walking distance of their school. The campus is secluded within the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside and has 24/7 security so you can be rest assured your child is safe and sound.
Queen Ethelburga’s has a medical centre on-site to care for any children requiring medication or who feel unwell. The centre is run by qualified nurses with visiting doctors to see students by appointment.
