Art Lessons

Creative Arts at King’s Magna

After achieving the Gold Artsmark Award, all King's Magna students follow art lessons designed by the Arts Council England.

There are a range of exciting co-curricular opportunities for students to enjoy, including our popular Queen’s Academy for Creative Arts, the Arts Award programme for Years 7 to 9, and a variety of art-for-mindfulness activities and groups. These enriching experiences run alongside our standard curriculum and are delivered by specialist teachers, helping to further enhance our vibrant arts offering.

At King’s Magna, we place great emphasis on student choice. Enthusiastic pupils can opt to add an extra Art or Games Design lesson to their timetable in Years 6 and 7, or choose an additional Art or Design Technology lesson in Years 8 and 9. All students are encouraged to explore a wide range of artistic media and creative disciplines, allowing them to discover their strengths and interests. This approach provides a strong foundation for the broad selection of GCSEs, BTECs, and A Levels available in QE College.

Design Technology Lesson

A wide range of creative art options, including art lessons, studio time, national competitions, and our Queen’s Academy.
Outstanding Arts Facilities

Our King’s Magna students have access to outstanding creative arts facilities, including a professional dark room for analogue photography and a range of design technology workshops.

Be Creative

King's Magna's art and design teachers encourage students to think creatively, showcase their work, and enter local and national competitions.

We find our middle school pupils are inspired by the accomplishments of our senior students who regularly achieve recognition in national competitions, such as two back-to-back wins in the ISA Photography Key Stage 5 category (2022 and 2023) and two Highly Commended Awards in the ISA Key Stage 4 Sketchbook category (2023) and Key Stage 5 3D category (2023).
