Queen Ethelburga’s Young Musicians Achieve Top Awards

Queen Ethelburga’s (QE) is celebrating after winning awards in national and regional music festivals.

Two pupils from Queen Ethelburga's, a private day and boarding school in Yorkshire, celebrating their awardsSiblings Benjamin (Year 7) and Rosamund (Year 4) achieved an exceptional three Gold Awards between them at the UK Schools’ Music Festival. Benjamin received Gold Awards for both violin and piano, while Rosamund earned Gold for piano — an extraordinary achievement at such a young age.

Adjudicators praised both pupils for their musicality, expression, control, and polished performances throughout the festival. Performing at such a high level already is something they should be incredibly proud of, and with so much talent and promise on display, QE are excited to see where their musical journeys lead next.

This success follows Benjamin’s recent triumph at the Harrogate Competitive Festival in March, where he won the Virtuoso Class. His performance was described as “an exceptional performance,” earning him the prestigious Elizabeth Hopkins Trophy.

Benjamin has also been invited to perform in the Festival Winners’ Concert, joining the other four group and class winners — a tremendous honour and a testament to the quality of his musicianship.

More Award wins at the ISA Music Competition

Adding to this remarkable run of musical accomplishments, Carson achieved fantastic success in March by winning the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Young Musician Competition with a harmonica performance, supported by his whole family.
