During the last week of term, QE’s Year 11 students enjoyed their end of year celebration in King’s Theatre. The celebratory event included speeches from senior staff and subject prizes awarded to students for their outstanding achievements.
In line with the tradition of the usual QE End of Year Services (unable to take place this year due to ongoing restrictions), there were some musical performances. The service was followed by a social event in a beautifully decorated marquee where students were able to socialise and celebrate the end of the school year.
Dan Machin, Acting Principal, said ‘Our College and Faculty students epitomise the virtues that we encourage in all our QE students, those of mutual respect, support, tolerance and compassion. Our Year 11s have shown great resilience and determination in an ever-changing situation, responding positively to the challenges faced by multiple lockdowns and periods of remote learning. I commend every one of our students for the way they have supported staff and their peers in making sure that their successes this year are as strong as they have ever been.’
I would like to acknowledge the fantastic work of the Key Stage 4 prefects, led ably by Nischal G and Lesasha B. They have been exceptional in their support for staff and their proactivity to instigate student led change and improvements. Thank you to all of our prefects and all senior school prefects who assume other leadership responsibilities, for the contribution you have made.’
Kevin Oldershaw, Head of The College, said ‘Our Year 11 cohort are an incredibly talented group of students. We are proud of all of the amazing things they have accomplished, the great things they can do, and the successes they have achieved.
As a year group, their education over the last 18 months has been the most disrupted it could be, but the adaptability they have shown and the support they have given each other in the QE Community has led them to the end of key stage 4 on a high, a milestone worth marking in any year, but in this year in particular.’
Erica Papaglimis, Head of The Faculty, said ‘Well done to all our amazing year 11 students. The resilience they have shown has been remarkable and the fact that we can celebrate so many achievements is commendable. We wish you all the best for the future and look forward to seeing all you achieve.’
