Charitable Fundraising
Fundraising for a charity is a vital aspect of school life at Queen Ethelburga’s as it unites the whole of Team QE for an important cause.
At the start of each academic year, everyone has the chance to vote for the six charities Queen Ethelburga’s will raise money for throughout the year. To fundraise for these charities, Chapter House plan exciting activities for Children in Need or Red Nose Day, and each Academic House participates in a Charity Week.
There are annual events that happen every year like the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Christmas Jumper Day, Rotary Shoebox Scheme Appeal and Toy Collection. That’s not forgetting the Collegiate’s on-site Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK, which involves every student from Nursery to Year 13.
In addition to the six charities, you can participate in raising money for various other charities put forward by students, staff and parents. Past events have included large-scale Gala Dinners, bake sales, non-uniform days, Macmillan coffee mornings, Easter eggs and valentine’s rose gifting. Students can even get involved in the Charity Committee, a dedicated group of student volunteers who work as Charity Leaders for the school. The Charity Committee meet weekly after school to discuss, plan and implement fundraising and service initiatives. If students are completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award, participating in the Charity Committee is a fantastic option to complete their ‘Volunteering’ section.
The support of our passionate and enthusiastic students is invaluable to Queen Ethelburga’s fundraising efforts. If you would like to nominate a charity or get involved, please email QEFundraising@qe.org
