Holiday@QE

A residential holiday camp offering an alternative British homestay experience.

After the success of Holiday@QE last year, Queen Ethelburga’s will remain open for boarding students during all three half-terms and the Easter holidays.*

Queen Ethelburga’s offers a bespoke package of organised activities, access to all campus facilities and offsite trips to local amenities to boarding students in the holidays. A wide variety of activities are available to students with every interest taken into account.

*The school will be closed for the Christmas holiday as usual.

Activities That Suit Everyone

There are art, drama, music and craft workshops throughout the day for students who enjoy being creative.

Or, for those more into physical activities, the Sports Village (including the gym, swimming pool, specialist studios and spa) are open for students to use at their leisure. Students can increase their training at the gym, play team games with their friends in the sports hall or partake in outdoor activities.

Alternatively, Holiday@QE provide a more relaxed environment where students have the freedom to hang out at Muggles, learn to cook/bake with their House Parents, walk in the North Yorkshire countryside or attend social events in the evening.

Trips Off Campus

Students can even go on day trips out to local amenities using our taxi service. For example, students can go on shopping trips, eat at local restaurants, go bowling or watch a film at the cinema. Older students are allowed to use taxis on their own to visit York or use local facilities at their leisure.

Delicious Food

During the holidays, the Catering Team provide nutritious food from a variety of cultures. Ms Greaves, Head of Catering, goes above and beyond to supply students a meal experience that reminds them of home. She is even a finalist at the Independent School Awards 2022 for providing a personalised meal service as part of the Holiday@QE package!

Opportunities For Everyone

Holiday@QE provides students with a range of opportunities to enjoy their time off school. The boarding team organise themed activities dependent on the time of the year and tailors opportunities to different age ranges.

Younger students can join Camp QE's themed activity weeks and pool parties free of charge. Whereas older students have more independence and a bespoke study scheme during the Easter and May holidays to help prepare for exams.

To stay at Queen Ethelburga’s over the holidays, you can let the boarding team know through the travel form provided at the end of each half term.
