The food provided at Queen Ethelburga’s is second to none. In 2019, our catering team won the prestigious LACA In House Caterer of the Year Award, with the team continuing to excel in their work. Students enjoy healthy meals designed to maximise their potential and improve their wellbeing.
Our award-winning in-house catering team creates healthy, mouth-watering and varied menus for students catering to all dietary requirements. Our Food Council, made up of students from across the Collegiate, meet regularly with the catering team to provide their ideas and feedback. This meeting ensures the food is popular with our whole school community.
At each meal of the day, there is always plenty of yoghurts, fresh fruit and refreshments for students to enjoy. Students can choose a selection of hot and cold breakfast items in the morning. Whilst at lunchtime and evening meals, there are always hot and cold ‘light bites’ options, with a full hot meal and pudding, should students wish for something more substantial.
The team also organise theme weeks and international days. In the past, firm favourites included the Chinese New Year Feast and the Great British Pie Week. Key celebrations such as Easter, Christmas, St George’s Day and even World Book Day are also marked!
Cooking Clubs for students include; Baking Club, Chinese Cookery, Creative Cooking and Cooking for University. In addition, the team runs a Growing Club, giving students the opportunity to grow their own produce, harvest it and learn about composting.
