INDEPENDENT DAY AND BOARDING SCHOOL
Our Key Stage 1 curriculum for junior pupils in Years 1 and 2 builds on the strong EYFS foundation as it begins to encourage children to learn, explore, develop ideas, give feedback and take on more responsibility.
This week, Year 1 have been getting creative by using lots of different media to create their own seascapes.
Year 1 have started their new topic about the seaside. In Literacy they have started 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' book.
Year One have been learning all about Easter this week, they enjoyed learning about Easter traditions and making a decoupage egg for their Easter tree.
The class were pleased with their glazed Africa plates when they arrived back from Rainbow Ceramics.
The class has been very busy during British Science Week. They enjoyed a visit from Mr Perkis, a STEM ambassador on Tuesday.
Year 1 have enjoyed seeing the results of their investigation 'What does a seed need to germinate?' They were shocked to see the seeds with no light had grown the most.
Year 1 have been planning an investigation to see what a seed needs to germinate, they also planted a bean seed in a bottle, so they can watch it germinate and grow.
Year 1 loved sharing their last pieces of 'Africa' Learning Log work this week. There was a fantastic variety of work, well done Year 1!
