The Programmes
QE Short Courses offer a unique International Summer School course that is split between two intensive programmes for improving English or Sport.
See below for more information about each of the programmes available.
Creativity, Culture, Health and Wellbeing
Creativity is a key skill which we aim to nurture at our summer school to help develop open minds as well as fuel innovative and independent thinking. Our site is home to the ideal facilities to support this aim, such as a professional standard 300-seat theatre and purpose built dance and music studios.
Elsewhere, students can access our Visual Arts department not only taking part in artistic activities but also receiving advice from industry tutors on how to achieve their goals.
Where sports are concerned, we have an industry quality student gym and swimming pool, plus outdoor courts for tennis, basketball, and cricket, with timetabled sessions for student access.
Our summer school also follows an initiative called ‘THRIVE@QE’, which is a program designed to promote student wellbeing and mental health. Specific activities include mindfulness and positive study techniques, all of which are available to students on a daily basis.
Pastoral Care
We have a dedicated pastoral team, and every student is assigned a tutor to check on their welfare regularly. The tutors are then supported by the summer school residential team to guarantee 24-hour welfare support. There will also always be First-Aid trained staff on site.
Our site is secure with accommodation access only possible via key card or code. Within the accommodation staff are also on-hand to ensure student wellbeing, outside security staff provide additional support with the added benefit of security cameras in public areas.
A Typical Day At International Summer School

FAQs
What dates can students arrive?
The first arrival date is Saturday 1st July. We recommend that students arrive on the Saturday of each week (apart from the last week) as this has the least impact on the planned teaching days, however we remain flexible and will support students with transfer/travel recommendations as much as possible.
Do you offer transfers?
Transfers are not included in our pricing. However, we can offer support, advice and the organisation of transfers at an additional cost. For larger group bookings, we are able to arrange coach transfers by prior arrangement.
Are there specific times at which we need to arrive on site?
We understand that international arrivals require 24 hour support, we will strive to support you with your planned arrival on site.
What level of English do students need to have?
Students need to be confident in their ability to communicate their needs in English. Students will sit an English test prior to the course in order to place them in English language classes that suit their ability level.
We wish to send students, but they do not need intensive English lessons. Is there anything else on offer?
In simple, yes! We can cater our courses to suit the need of students (subject to numbers). If your students are already English speakers and would like a different course experience, please get in touch.
