Stage 2 - Applying

QE is a co-education school, welcoming day students from 3 months to 18 years and boarders from 6 years to 18 years. For each stage of a students’ education we have a school that not only meets their academic needs, but their pastoral ones too.

Chapter House
Early Years to Nursery (from 3 months old): Children can join at any time of year and stay until the September after their fourth birthday. Infants and juniors (Reception to Year 5): Children join reception in the September after they are four and can join in subsequent years. In Year 5 we prepare students for transition to Kings Magna middle school. Students wanting to join Chapter House will be invited to come along for a taster day to try out the facilities for themselves and to make sure they will be comfortable in their surroundings. It’s also a great chance to make some early friends! To apply for a place in Chapter house click here.

King’s Magna
(Year 6 to Year 9): Students join Kings Magna middle school when they reach Year 6 and can join in subsequent years. In year 9 we prepare students for transition into the College or the Faculty. For those wanting to start at Kings Magna, towards the end of term applicants will be invited to an induction day so as to ensure their new surroundings are a bit more familiar to them come their start date. To apply for a place in Kings Magna click here.

The College
(Year 10 to Year 13): Students can join the College at the beginning of Year 10 or Year 12. They follow a traditional academic route towards higher education, though GCSE and A Level courses. To apply for a place in the College click here.

The Faculty
(Year 10 to Year 13): Students can join the Faculty at the beginning of Year 10 or Year 12. They follow a personalised pathway of academic, creative or vocational courses designed to enable students to progress towards higher education or employment. To apply for a place in the Faculty click here.

Stage 3 - Entrance test

Once an application has been received applicants will be invited to visit us to sit an entrance test. This is so that we might see where each student’s talents lie and where they may need support. This assessment is considered in conjunction with a recent report from the student’s current school, and a meeting with a relevant member of academic staff where you can find out more about daily life as a student at QE.

Stage 4 - Registering

If an offer of a place is made to a student, and you decide to accept it, then a registration form and a non-refundable fee of £295 is required to secure the place for the student.

Stage 5 - Starting with us

The admissions team will be on hand to help you through every stage of the process. Once a place has been secured they will send out a Parents Handbook and be in contact to ensure you have all the information you need ahead of the student starting with QE.

International students

We welcome students from all across the world each year and strive to make the application process as seamless as possible for international students. All parents will be invited for a face to face meeting or Skype chat with our admissions team to learn more about the collegiate and their expectations. Many families choose to apply to us via an agent and they will also be able to conduct this chat.
All students will be interviewed either face to face or via Skype to assess levels of spoken English and listening skills. In addition, international students will be asked to complete the Oxford Online English Test or the Oxford Young Learners test; this is so we can assess a students’ level of reading, comprehension, listening and writing.
