Learning how to learn

Learning in the Kindergarten

Our children in the Kindergarten follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which falls into "Areas of Learning". This involves three prime areas: Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. Alongside these areas we have four specific areas of focus which look at Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Art and Design. Throughout the Early Years, many of the carefully planned activities cross several areas of learning, ensuring a broad and balanced development programme for everyone.

Each month there is a different topic which activities are based around; some of the activities will be adult-initiated, some child-initiated. Regular observations are made of the children to ensure that progress is monitored and planning is altered to cater for each individual child's needs. Our children are happy and confident within the secure Kindergarten environment that we provide. Often those that start part-time quickly become full-time and, at the end of the session, want to stay longer!
