Queen Ethelburga's Academic Results 2013

As the North’s leading independent school we are celebrating being ranked second place amongst England's top independent co-educational day and boarding schools by the Daily Telegraph, thanks to our record-breaking A-Level results.

Not only did the College repeat its 100% overall pass rate for its Year 13 pupils, but its average university admissions (UCAS) points score increased to 499 – the equivalent to over 4 A grades at A-Level. The percentage of grades at A* and A was 81% and A* to B was 98%. 74% of all A-Level students in the College achieved at 3 or more A or A* grades.

The Faculty saw a similarly impressive 100% pass rate and students gained an average UCAS points score of 469. The percentage of grades at A* and A was 68% and A* to B was 95%. 91% of BTECs were awarded a Distinction* or Distinction grade – equivalent to A* and A grades at A-Level. In the Daily Telegraph league tables the Faculty is placed 6th in the UK.

It is so satisfying to know that the success of our schools is down to the fact that we assess each student individually so that we can find something at which he or she really excels. Our teachers work very closely with our pupils from the moment they arrive to make sure we support them with their subject choices, university applications and career aspirations.
